Officer Dennis McNamara, Plaque dedication

A dedication and unvieling of a plaque in the memory of officer Dennis McNamara was held adjacent to the scene where he was brutally murdered. Police officers from Upper Darby, State police, and surrounding community departments, as well as Fire Departments, Government officials and citizens were all on hand for the ceremony. Mrs McNamara was also on hand with her 2 children. She stated, she knew Dennis was there with us all in spirit and was just waiting for the rain. Companies were dispatched for the dwelling fire. 36-9 arrived reporting heavy fire 1st floor front of a 2 story twin. Crews from 36 & 37 lead off with 1-3/4 water lines while crews from Ladder-26 vented. Companies were dispatched for the dwelling fire. 43-9 arrived on scene reporting heavy fire from the rear 1st & 2nd floor of a 2 story sfd. Companies started with an interior attack for a short time, but were chased to an exterior attack due to the heavy fire conditions and a collapse. Company 19 was dispatched for a transformer fire. Upon arrival, 19-9 reported he had a smoke condition inside the bldg which housed numerous elderly and ambulatory residents. They did have an outside transformer fire with an electricla fire inside the walls of a 2nd floor apartment. 19-9 requested addl apparatus and ems to the scne to evacuate the residents. Peco was requested to the scene for gas and electric, and for the high co readings from the 3rd floor of the bldg. Companies were dispatched for the working building fire at the Haverford Township Regional Court Building. Fm-1 arrived o/s reporting heavy smoke & fire showing. Crews made a quick knock on the fire and contained it to the outside of the building. Fire had run up the outside wall and burned an outside wooden fenced area.
